Former President Trump Rejects Plea Deal: “That’s a Wise Guy Question”
Former President Donald Trump made it clear during a recent event in Des Moines, Iowa that he will not be accepting any plea deals regarding his current indictments. When asked if there was a chance he would take a plea deal in Georgia, Trump bluntly stated, “I don’t do plea deals.” He emphasized that he and his team did nothing wrong and will not consider any plea deals.
Trump is currently facing indictments from Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg for falsifying business records. Special counsel Jack Smith has also obtained two indictments against Trump, one related to classified documents at his home in the Mar-a-Lago Club and another related to his challenges to the 2020 presidential election. Additionally, there is a potential indictment looming in Georgia, where Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis has a grand jury investigating Trump’s election result challenges.
When asked about the possibility of arranging a plea deal, Trump responded, “We don’t take plea deals. That’s a wise guy question.” He reiterated that he did nothing wrong and criticized President Joe Biden for allegedly orchestrating the indictments.

Despite the ongoing legal challenges, a recent CNN poll revealed that a majority of respondents disapprove of President Biden’s handling of his role as commander in chief. Furthermore, a significant number of respondents expressed more confidence in Republicans in Congress than in the current president.
Trump’s lawyer, John Lauro, also made it clear that a plea deal is not on the table. During an interview on CBS’ “Face the Nation,” Lauro simply responded with a firm ”no” and stated that he will file a motion to dismiss the charges.
It is clear that Trump remains steadfast in his refusal to entertain any plea deals, asserting his innocence and criticizing the motives behind the indictments. The legal battles continue, and the outcome remains uncertain.
