Watchdog sues DOJ for Merrick Garland’s involvement in Loudoun County rape scandal records.

AFL Sues Department of Justice Over Alleged Targeting of Concerned Parents

A conservative watchdog group, America First Legal (AFL), has taken legal action against the Department of Justice (DOJ) in an effort to uncover the truth about Attorney General Merrick Garland’s involvement in the targeting of concerned parents.

According to reports, the White House collaborated with the National School Boards Association (NSBA) on a memo that suggested using the anti-terrorist PATRIOT Act against parents. This memo specifically singled out a Loudoun County father who was arrested for disorderly conduct. Shockingly, it was later revealed that the father’s anger stemmed from the superintendent’s deception regarding his daughter’s rape.

Virginia’s Republican attorney general, Jason Miyares, established a special grand jury to investigate the cover-up of the rape incident. Despite efforts by the Democrat-run school system to shut down the grand jury, it ultimately indicted the school system’s superintendent and spokesman.

In January, AFL filed a Freedom of Information Act request for emails from Garland and other senior DOJ officials that pertained to Loudoun County Public Schools, the rape victim’s family, the sexual assault, or the grand jury. However, the DOJ informed AFL that it would take several months to search for and review the requested records.

This week, AFL took legal action to compel the DOJ to provide the records in a timely manner. AFL’s General Counsel and Vice President, Gene Hamilton, emphasized that the DOJ unfairly targeted parents who were simply expressing concerns about their children’s education.

“The American people have every right to see any of DOJ’s communications with or about Loudoun, and we will not cease in our fight to obtain and share the records with the American people,” Hamilton stated.

AFL senior advisor and Loudoun resident, Ian Prior, alleged that Garland, the NSBA, and the White House devised a plan to investigate parents speaking at school board meetings as a means to support Democrat Terry McAuliffe’s Virginia gubernatorial campaign. However, once the truth behind the father’s arrest emerged, the plan began to unravel.

“Given what we now know about the Biden DOJ using Loudoun parents as scapegoats for its memo, it is imperative for the public to understand any further coordination by the DOJ with state and local officials following the truth getting out,” Prior added.
