We May Have Just Seen The End Of Tiger

While it’s possible that this is not the end of Tiger Woods’ career, what audiences saw on Saturday indicated that his time as a professional golfer may be winding down. Woods withdrew from the Masters after the third round, a tournament he had won five times. He was struggling, having dropped shots at nearly every hole in his rain-delayed second round.

His physical condition was so bad that his former coach, Butch Harmon, admitted to hoping Woods wouldn’t make the cut, as it was clear he was in agony trying to finish the game. Woods was already in last place at +9, leaving no chance to win.

Woods has been known for his toughness, having played on fractures and undergone multiple surgeries throughout his career. In October 2019, he shot 82 wins on the PGA Tour, winning the inaugural Zozo Championship in Japan.

However, Woods’ most recent injury, a car crash in February 2021, left him with compound fractures in his right leg and a shattered ankle. Despite his resilience, it’s uncertain how much longer he can keep playing with such severe injuries.

Ultimately, if Woods discovers that he can’t win anymore, he will walk away from the game. He is not in it for the money; he is worth $1.1 billion. Hopefully, his withdrawal from the Masters won’t be the end of his career, but only time will tell.
