Wealthy Trump allies invest millions in MAGA committee, records reveal.

A Super PAC Supporting Donald Trump Rakes in Millions ⁤from Deep-Pocketed Allies

A super PAC backing Donald Trump’s potential 2024 ⁤White House bid has received substantial financial support from wealthy⁢ allies of the former president, according to recent filings. These contributions come at⁢ a time when Trump faces new charges related to the January⁢ 6 Capitol riot and his ⁤efforts to challenge the 2020‌ election results.

Between April and June, four affluent businessmen donated ⁤over⁣ $4 million to Make America Great Again Inc., the super PAC supporting Trump. While this organization cannot directly coordinate with Trump’s official campaign, ⁤it can accept unlimited sums of money. These donations highlight the unwavering support of a⁣ select group of Trump’s longtime allies, even in the face of legal⁢ challenges.

Trump’s Strong Primary Contender Position

Despite other 2024 Republican candidates, such as Sen. Tim Scott,‍ Gov. ⁣Ron DeSantis, and ⁣ex-United Nations ambassador Nikki Haley, receiving significant contributions from Wall Street and⁢ other billionaires, Trump‌ remains the frontrunner. According to RealClearPolitics, he leads the primary‌ polling average with 53.9%, followed⁣ by DeSantis at 18.1%.

When asked for‍ comment, an⁢ official from the Trump-allied super PAC declined ⁣but referred to a New York Times report stating that the organization received $15 million in July, ‍surpassing its total fundraising for ‍the first half of 2023.

Support for Trump’s Legal Expenses

The super PAC has allocated at least $12.25 million to⁢ the pro-Trump Save America PAC to cover legal bills. Save America PAC, in turn, has spent over $21 ⁢million on‍ Trump’s legal expenses, which have increased following his previous indictments related to‍ “hush money” payments and handling of classified documents.

Generous Donors to the‌ MAGA Committee

Phil Ruffin, owner of the Treasure Island Hotel ‍& Casino in⁢ Las Vegas and half of the Trump International Las Vegas hotel, contributed $2 million to the super PAC. Ruffin has also donated nearly $1.7 million to⁢ pro-Trump committees since 2016.

Woody Johnson, co-owner of the New York Jets and former ambassador to⁣ the United Kingdom under Trump, donated $1 million to‌ the MAGA PAC in April. Johnson previously contributed $1 million to America First Action⁤ in 2020 and $675,000 to Trump Victory ‍in 2016 and ⁢2020 combined.

Charles Kushner, father of Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, gave $1 million in June. Kushner, a disbarred former attorney and real estate developer, was pardoned by Trump in 2020 after being convicted in 2005 for various offenses.

In June, Haim Chera, son of the ‍late Stanley Chera, a close friend of Trump, donated $50,000 to the MAGA⁤ PAC. Chera, an executive at Vornado⁢ Realty Trust, has ties to⁣ Charles Kushner through business ‌dealings.

Shifts in Support

While Trump continues to receive support from some previous backers, recent disclosures ‌reveal‍ that certain wealthy⁢ allies⁢ have redirected their contributions. Billionaire Richard Uihlein and his ‌wife, Elizabeth ⁣Uihlein, who previously‌ donated $3 million to America First Action in 2020, each contributed $1 million to Never⁤ Back Down, a super⁢ PAC‌ aligned with DeSantis. Warren ⁤Stephens, who donated over $3 million to pro-Trump committees in 2020, invested $1 million this year in a committee supporting ‍ex-Gov. Asa Hutchinson’s presidential bid.

Upcoming Court Appearance

Trump is scheduled to appear before Magistrate Judge⁣ Moxila⁤ Upadhyaya at a Washington courthouse on Thursday at 4 p.m. U.S. District Judge ‍Tanya Chutkan, assigned to handle special counsel Jack Smith’s case against Trump, is an Obama-era appointee. The indictment also lists six unnamed alleged co-conspirators, including Rudy Giuliani, John ⁤Eastman, ‍Sidney Powell,‌ Jeffrey‍ Clark, and Kenneth⁣ Chesebro.

Trump responded ⁣to the charges, calling ⁢them “nothing ⁤more than the latest corrupt chapter in the continued pathetic attempt by the Biden Crime ⁣Family and their weaponized Department of Justice to interfere with the 2024 Presidential Election.”
