DeSantis aims to remove Biden from Florida ballot in response to Trump’s challenges
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis Considers Removing President Biden from State Ballot
Presidential candidate and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) made headlines on Friday when he revealed that he is exploring the possibility of removing President Joe Biden from the Florida ballot. This comes in response to Democratic states’ efforts to scrub former President Donald Trump from their own ballots.
“Any time you have a partisan secretary of state, they’re gonna go after the other party’s candidate, and this is just gonna be tit for tat, and it’s not gonna end well,” DeSantis said.
Last month, the Colorado Supreme Court ruled that Trump’s name could not appear on the presidential primary ballot, citing the insurrection clause of the 14th Amendment. Trump has filed an appeal with the U.S. Supreme Court, which has agreed to review the case.
“You could make a case — we’re actually, I’m actually looking at this in Florida now,” DeSantis said. “Could we make a credible case that Biden, because of the invasion of eight million?”
Under President Biden, millions of illegal immigrants have crossed the southern border, causing concerns among Americans. Despite reversing key Trump-era policies, the Biden administration still blames Republicans for the ongoing border crisis.
“Again, I don’t think that’s the right way to do it,” the Florida governor argued, “but whatever the rules are applied to us, we’re going to fight back and play the rules the other way.”
DeSantis emphasized that he believes there is a better way forward and that he will address the issue of lawfare and weaponization once he becomes president.
“We’re not going to have to worry about those issues. And then when I become president, I’m going to be able to address all the lawfare and all the weaponization, and we’ll be able to end this stuff once and for all,” DeSantis confidently stated.
The U.S. Supreme Court is set to begin oral arguments on February 8 regarding the ballot issue. The court’s decision will likely have implications for other states, as Trump has also been removed from the primary ballot in Maine, and groups of voters in Illinois and Massachusetts are seeking to remove him as well.

What are the arguments for allowing states to decide who is eligible to run for office?
D during a press conference. “If Florida were to determine that Biden was ineligible to appear on the ballot, that would raise significant concerns about the legitimacy of the election.”
DeSantis’ statements have ignited a debate over the power of states in determining who can be included on their ballots. Some argue that it is within a state’s rights to decide who is eligible to run for office, while others believe that such decisions should be left to the federal government.
Proponents of DeSantis’ stance assert that it is essential to ensure the integrity of the election process. They argue that if a candidate’s eligibility is in question, it is only reasonable to investigate and determine their eligibility before allowing them to appear on the ballot. They contend that this is not an attempt to disenfranchise voters but rather to guarantee that only qualified candidates are presented to the electorate.
On the other hand, opponents argue that DeSantis’ consideration is merely a political maneuver aimed at undermining President Biden’s legitimacy. They claim that there is no legal basis to remove Biden from the Florida ballot and that doing so would set a dangerous precedent. They argue that decisions regarding a candidate’s eligibility should be left to the federal government, as outlined in the U.S. Constitution.
The potential ramifications of this debate extend beyond Florida. If DeSantis succeeds in removing Biden from the ballot, it could lead to a domino effect where other states follow suit, subsequently challenging the legitimacy of the entire election. This would undoubtedly create further political polarization and distrust in the democratic process.
Furthermore, this debate raises questions about the power of states in shaping elections. While states have historically exerted control over election procedures, including ballot access, the question of who can be included on the ballot based on eligibility remains largely uncharted territory. The Supreme Court’s ruling on Colorado’s decision to remove Trump from the ballot will undoubtedly have significant implications for this issue.
As this debate continues to unfold, it is crucial to focus on preserving the integrity of the democratic process. While states should have a certain degree of control over their election procedures, it is vital to ensure that any decisions made are based on sound legal principles and not motivated by political agendas.
Ultimately, the determination of who can be included on the ballot should be guided by a fair and impartial process that upholds the principles of democracy. Any attempts to remove a candidate based on party affiliation or personal motivations undermine the fundamental principles of a fair and transparent electoral system.
In conclusion, Governor Ron DeSantis’ consideration of removing President Biden from the Florida ballot has sparked a contentious debate over states’ rights and the integrity of the election process. While supporters argue that it is crucial to verify a candidate’s eligibility, opponents maintain that such decisions should be left to the federal government. The outcome of this debate will undoubtedly have significant implications for future elections and the functioning of American democracy.
