WFB Reporter Explains Why Woke Stanford Law Students Who Tried to Censor Him Are Hypocrites
Aaron Sibarium, a reporter for the Washington Free Beacon, appeared on Fox News to provide his frank response to the activist students at Stanford Law School. These students demanded that their names be removed from his reporting.
Sibarium refused, telling the protest organizers who prevented federal circuit court judge Kyle Duncan from speaking at a Stanford Federalist Society event, “No way. We’re not going to do that.”
The reporter explained to Fox & Friends Weekend co-host Will Cain that the students “didn’t just shout down a sitting federal judge.” They also posted the names and faces of every Federalist Society board member who helped invite him around the school in an effort to shame their peers and pressure them out of hosting the event. Then, these same students emailed him to say, “Oh, by naming us in the story, you’re ginning up harassment.” Sibarium characterized this as “quite hypocritical.”
Last week, Lily Bou contacted the Free Beacon to insist that Sibarium had no right to quote her or other board members of Stanford’s chapter of the National Lawyers Guild, which helped organize the protest against Duncan. They praised the protest as “Stanford Law School at its best.” Another student, Mary Cate Hickman, demanded that the Free Beacon anonymize footage of a subsequent protest of Stanford Law School dean Jenny Martinez after she apologized to Duncan.
Sibarium said on Fox News that he found it concerning that these students saw themselves as above the law. “A key precondition for the rule of law is that the law applies equally to everyone,” he explained. “Yet, these students seem to think that the rules don’t apply to them. Pretty soon, I think, that double standard is going to be more mainstream among lawyers and judges because these people are going to graduate to become high-powered lawyers and judges.”
