When DeSantis Targets A Corporation He’s A Fascist. When Democrats Do It They’re Heroes
The Florida Governor signed a bill banning public school teachers in Florida from discussing sexual orientation or gender identity in kindergarten and third grades. Ron DeSantis proposed Special session of legislature called for review of Disney World’s 50 year-old plan. “independent special district” Status to determine if it is “appropriately serving the public interest.”
The popular bill — which Democrats and the media dishonestly renamed “Don’t Say Gay” despite the bill never mentioning the word gay or stopping anyone from saying it — passed both houses and was signed by DeSantis. Disney lost easily. DeSantis was able to win. signing Acts that took control of more than 250,000 acres of land around Disney’s theme park were passed to create a tax district.
Democrats such as Jonathan Chait claimed The Threat All by itself was “What Post-Trump Authoritarianism Looks Like,” Jahan Jones, MSNBC noted These threats indicated that the GOP was gone “full authoritarian,” And so on. You can also read more about it here. Full Authoritarian means that the Florida legislature approved the bill, and the governor then signed it. Disney is not entitled to any special tax districts under the Constitution or by God. The notion of “democracy” These days, it is very malleable.
While it may not be popular to state that I believe normalizing state retribution against speech is an extremely short-sighted idea, Disney should be able to stake any political position it wants without worrying about repercussions from the government — in the same way that Jack Phillips or Hobby Lobby or Chick-fil-A shouldn’t have to worry about the government punishing them for their beliefs. It would be almost certain to pay a high economic price if Disney believes that kindergarteners should learn about oral sex, and encourage gender dysphoria.
However, it is true that conservatives can also understand DeSantis’ move. Leftists are feigning anger at the incident is laughable. Modern Democrats are not afraid to penalize and punish corporations who do not align with their political views. The entire technocratic economic agenda that the current left has is designed to subsidise industries producing goods they love, make it mandatory for consumers to purchase those products, and punish the ones who don’t. Democrats are not afraid to attack disfavored businesses for their profit margins. They can use corporations to force vaccinations or unions. Or they may threaten Big Tech companies to accept government speech codes. Senatorial committee chair, an open Marxist. What are they talking about?
Walgreens didn’t tell us this week sell The abortifacient medication mifepristone is available in twenty red states with laws that restrict unfettered abortion. Gavin Newsom, who is in charge of an economy that has begun to lose its economic controls. resemble An Eastern European “republic” In 1975, the company promised that the consequences would be severe for the pharmaceutical chain and that California would cease doing business with it. “cowers to the extremists” “puts women’s lives at risk.”
Walgreens isn’t opposing any California law. It’s not lobbying the state to overturn laws that legalize abortion into the ninth month of pregnancy nor staking a position that is at odds with most of the state’s voters — though it has every right to do all those things if it desires. Walgreens decided to stop selling abortion drugs that it had never sold before in this instance. Another states. This is not for moral reasons. It is trying avoid legal conflict.
Many Democrats celebrated Newsom’s threat is a celebration of threats in the past. They have no qualms about causing or harming businesses. They aren’t convinced it is. They are just mad that they don’t have the right to practice it.
