‘When you lose you need to shut the hell up’: Charles Barkley tells Democrats

Former NBA player Charles Barkley congratulated President-elect Donald Trump and criticized the Democratic Party for blaming its candidates for losing the November election, suggesting the problem is much bigger.

In the days following the election that saw Trump win the presidency and Republicans take the Senate and House majorities, Barkley offered his own political analysis on his podcast The Steam Room.

GREATEST COMEBACK? HERE’S HOW TRUMP STACKS UP IN WHITE HOUSE HISTORY

“I want to congratulate President-elect Trump. You all won, fair and square,” Barkley said.

“We lost, and I just wanna say this to the Democrats, which I’m an independent who voted Democratic. Do me this favor: Shut the f*** up. When you win you get to say what you want to, when you lose you need to shut the hell up,” Barkley added. “We lost because we had no game plan. We still haven’t solved the immigration problem; have no viable answers. Never addressed inflation.”

Barkley went on to suggest that to lay all the blame for the loss at the feet of President Joe Biden or Vice President Kamala Harris was too short-sighted. He mocked the party’s strategy to garner celebrity endorsements.

“Bringing all these stupid stars out to rally the vote — What was that? Hey, I love Beyoncé. Bringing her out that ain’t gonna make me vote a certain way. Cardi B, I like Cardi B. That ain’t gonna make me vote a certain type of way,” Barkley said. “You guys lost because y’all stupid. Come up with solutions.”

Earlier this summer, Barkley revealed his plan to retire next year. The 61-year-old has worked as a sports commentator for over 20 years with the TNT network. The NBA’s deal with ABC-ESPN and Turner Sports is slated to expire after next season.
