Former President Donald Trump is embarking on a weeklong campaign‌ tour across strategic swing states that are critical‍ for both his and Vice President ‌Kamala Harris’s campaigns. Trump’s itinerary‍ includes events ⁣in Pennsylvania, Georgia, North Carolina, Michigan, and‌ Wisconsin. His campaign emphasizes the⁣ importance of securing ‌these states, especially ⁤as‌ he focuses on issues like lowering taxes and domestic manufacturing.

Trump’s tour starts with ⁢a rally in Savannah, Georgia, ⁢where he will outline his economic plans. He then moves to Mint Hill, North Carolina, and later⁢ hosts two events‌ in Michigan to ‍discuss inflation and protecting the auto ‍industry. He concludes his week in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, where he⁤ continues to push his agenda as part of his third presidential campaign.

In parallel, Vice President Harris ‍will visit Pennsylvania, Arizona, and Nevada while engaging in fundraising efforts and ⁣meeting with⁤ international⁢ leaders. ‍Her campaign seeks to maintain ⁣enthusiasm among voters, particularly in states previously won in the 2020 election.

Given the recent electoral history, both candidates are focusing on energizing their bases and addressing issues of local importance in these pivotal areas.

Where Trump is going this week and why the stops matter

Former President Donald Trump is embarking on a weeklong campaign tour around “must-win” swing states for both campaigns.

This is the first time in months Trump has traveled to swing states back to back in this manner. After campaigning Monday in Pennsylvania, he is set to head to Georgia, North Carolina, Michigan, and Wisconsin this week. His running mate, Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH), will visit Georgia, Michigan, and Pennsylvania this week.

Meanwhile, Vice President Kamala Harris will visit Pennsylvania on Wednesday, Arizona on Friday, and Nevada on Sunday. In between those stops, she will host fundraisers in her home state of California. Harris is reportedly weighing a visit to the Mexican border while in Arizona. In her capacity as vice president, Harris will also meet with President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan of the United Arab Emirates and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky this week.

Here is where the former president is headed this week:

Tuesday: Savannah, Georgia

Trump will hold a rally Tuesday in Savannah, where he will discuss his plan to lower taxes and highlight domestic manufacturing, according to his campaign.

The last time Trump paid a visit to Georgia was for an early August rally in Atlanta. Vance visited the southern part of the state later in August. The “Team Trump Agenda 47 Policy Tour” went to Savannah two weeks ago and featured Gov. Kristi Noem (R-SD) campaigning on behalf of the Republican ticket.

In 2020, Biden narrowly flipped the state blue by a little more than 11,000 votes, marking the first time Georgia voted for a Democrat for president since 1992.

Trump is hoping Republicans can reclaim the state, while Harris is hoping increased enthusiasm surrounding her candidacy there will keep the state blue. Harris recently visited Savannah as part of a bus tour around the southeastern portion of the state.

Wednesday: Mint Hill, North Carolina

Trump will hold a rally Wednesday in the Charlotte suburb of Mint Hill. Vance visited Charlotte on Monday.

This is Trump’s second visit to the state after a CNN report revealed Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson (R-NC), the Trump-endorsed Republican gubernatorial candidate in the state, made many racist and vulgar posts between 2008 and 2012 on a pornography site, one of which included calling himself a “black NAZI!”

As a result of the report, Robinson was not invited to Trump’s rally in Wilmington, North Carolina, last week, and the former president did not mention his candidacy. Govs. Brian Kemp (R-GA) and Bill Lee (R-TN) have pulled their endorsements of Robinson.

In 2008, Barack Obama flipped the state blue for the first time since 1980. While the Harris campaign has an uphill battle there, operatives are looking towards the changing gubernatorial race and Obama-level enthusiasm surrounding her campaign to carry her to victory in the Tar Heel State.

Friday: Michigan

Trump will make two stops Friday in Michigan, the first being a rally in Walker and the second a town hall in Warren, located in the Detroit metropolitan area. The Trump campaign said he will discuss his plan to lower inflation and protect the auto industry while in Michigan.

This is Trump’s second visit to the state this month, having recently participated in a Sept. 17 town hall in Flint. That visit was the first time in eight years that he had visited the city, which underwent a clean water crisis from 2014 to 2019.

In 2016, Trump narrowly flipped the state by a little more than 10,000 votes, but Biden safely won the state in 2020 by more than 150,000 votes.

Saturday: Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin

Trump will end his week with a Saturday rally in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. This will be his sixth visit to the state this year, most recently having campaigned in Mosinee earlier this month.

A broad team of Republicans backing Trump’s third presidential campaign is also embarking on a bus tour across Wisconsin this week. The “Team Trump” bus tour will head to Green Bay, Appleton, Reedsburg, Watertown, and conclude in Waukesha over the next few days.

Trump surrogates in attendance for the bus tour include entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, Republican National Committee co-Chairwoman Lara Trump, former Wisconsin Gov. Tommy Thompson, Senate candidate Eric Hovde, former New York Rep. Lee Zeldin, and Wisconsin GOP Chairman Brian Schimming.

Wisconsin has a near-even split between voters registered as Democrats and Republicans, and the presidential race is expected to be close there yet again this year. In 2020, Biden flipped the state blue by only 20,000 votes. In 2016, Trump flipped the state red by a little more than 27,000 votes, marking the first time Wisconsin sent a Republican to the White House since 1984.
