Where’s the outrage after Biden misquotes the Declaration of Independence?
Every day I go through the painstaking process of sorting through the news stories that reflect the state of American culture, religious values, national security and – let’s be honest – sanity.
Many of them leave me fuming.
Whether it’s the Salvation Army shaming white donors into apologizing for being racists, or school boards putting people in jail for speaking out, or innocent bystanders being gunned down “just for fun,” there’s an anger-inducing news cocktail ready to be swallowed each and every morning.
So why did this headline from the UK’s Daily Mail outrage me more than all the others?
Biden CHANGES words of the Declaration of Independence to include ‘women’
I expected the following morning to wake up and find scores of conservative commentators blasting this presumption by a sitting “president of the United States.”
I found none.
Here is what Biden said as he opened a two-day Summit for Democracy on Dec. 9 at the White House:
“We say, ‘We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all women and men are created equal endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights, among them life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.’”
Women? And so pointedly placed in front of “men?” Maybe in Biden’s wandering, foggy and leftist mind he finds it appropriate to edit the words of America’s founding documents, but the word “women” does not appear in the second paragraph of the Declaration of Independence.
It’s not the fact that Biden added that word ‘women’ that has me ready to spit nails. Our puppet president could have added ANY word and I would have been fuming just as much.
He could have changed it to “all mankind” (instead of “men”) and I would be equally livid. So should you be, unless you don’t mind being gaslit once again by progressive, lying, anti-American, anti-science, anti-man, anti-white, and anti-truth politicians.
Liberals are constantly manufacturing and promoting fictions they hope will morph into the American public’s perceived truth.
The Dec. 9 speech wasn’t the first time Biden has wedged “women” into the Declaration of Independence. Back in March 2020, he said during a rally at Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas:
“We hold these truths to be self-evident. All men and women are created, by the, you know, you know the thing.”
The thing? I know the thing. I’m sure you know the thing. And we all know the thing does not include the word “women.”
This does not mean that the female gender is excluded from the document, by any means. At the time the Declaration was written, “men” just meant mankind. Everyone.
But back to Slow Joe’s statement and choice of words. The Declaration of Independence is not a “thing,” not some piece of junk mail full of meandering scribblings found on the side of the road.
The Declaration is a courageous and highly eloquent piece of truth, acknowledging that God gave mankind unalienable rights and liberties that no dictator, despot, autocrat or bureaucratic pencil-pusher can take away.
Men put their lives, families, and property at risk to defend this so-called “thing.”
In that Dec. 9 speech, Biden at least demonstrated the mental firepower needed to complete his sentence about the Declaration of Independence. I suspect a teleprompter was involved. Don’t you?
It would have been better, though, if he hadn’t remembered its very first word before he made that addition of his own – “women” – which was strategically and purposefully placed in front of the word “men.”
In doing this, Biden was making a pompous declaration of his own: that the Declaration was crafted with a certain measure of “masculine toxicity.” So he felt it to be his job, in his own self-righteous way, to straighten it out.
The point, and the source of my anger, is that we should all be fed up with these relentless attempts by ‘woke’ politicians to lie to us – with straight faces and through oily, disingenuous words – about America’s history, founding, authentic documents, and profoundly religious past.
These woke politicians want to have it both ways: They want to recite America’s outstanding achievements in front of one audience (even if they feel the need to change words here or there to suit their own biases), while blasting those same achievements in front of a different audience.
On Dec. 9 we heard Biden laud the Declaration of Independence, but indulge his need to tone down its “male toxicity” while doing so
Yet just three months earlier, in September, his administration had the National Archives put “trigger warnings” on the web pages of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution.
That’s right: The National Archives placed a “Harmful Language Alert” on top of digital copies of these most precious documents with a warning to readers that they contain “potentially harmful content.”
The National Archives describes “harmful language” as anything “racist,” “discriminatory towards diverse views on sexuality,” or which might “demonstrate bias.”
Biden obviously thinks he needs to “clean up” America’s founding documents, make them politically correct and more in tune with the progressive dictates of his new “woke” religion.
Words matter to him. Especially “correcting” the words of other, bigger men from the past. Do they matter to you?
On Dec. 1 the New York Post ran an editorial by Michael Nutter, the former two-term mayor of Philadelphia (2008 -2016).
The headline screamed:
If Philly DA can seriously claim we’re not facing a crisis of murders, then he and his white wokeness must go.
The black former mayor blasted white District Attorney Larry Krasner for claiming Philadelphia doesn’t “have a crisis of lawlessness, we don’t have a crisis of crime, we don’t have a crisis of violence.”
The progressive DA made these claims despite a staggering 521 people being slain this year in the City of Brotherly Love – the most since 1960.
Former Mayor Nutter’s scathing response:
“I have to wonder what kind of messed up world of white wokeness Krasner is living in to have so little regard for human lives lost, many of them black and brown, while he advances his own national profile as a progressive district attorney.”
Then Nutter said something to which we ALL should pay attention:
“Words matter. Words impact, and trigger and hurt. Words mean something from elected officials.”
Yes, words matter – especially words that form lies. Our lives can depend on politicians telling the truth (think of the outrageous and ongoing lies about COVID).
If Biden can add words to the Declaration, can he not add words to the Constitution?
What if the Second Amendment, that “thing” which guarantees “the right of the people to keep and bear Arms,” were restated by Sleepy Joe as “the right of competent people to keep and bear Arms”?
It’s a good and harmless word, right? Competent? And what American would support incompetents having guns?
Except that “competent” is (rightly) one of those words that has different meanings to different people! It’s subjective! Sacred and God-given rights cannot be stated in vague, subjective, context-dependent language.
We also know that years of political gaslighting have resulted in Americans actually believing that “free speech” does not allow for something new called “hate speech.” This a complete and utter distortion of the First Amendment. Hate speech is allowed! Why? Because it is speech, and my idea of hate speech might be quite different from yours.
Why, even the truth can be labeled as “hate speech” by leftists!
I once had students from New York University call the police on me for showing a film they regarded as criminal “hate speech”: my film Europe’s Last Stand, a documentary about the rise of radical Islam across Western Europe.
A half-dozen NYPD officers showed up with blue lights blazing during my outdoor screening at Washington Square in New York City.
The police were confused and dazed (to say the least) as dozens of students demanded my arrest and for the screening to be shut down. I have to admit being amused as police tried in vain to explain to these dumb – yes, dumb – university students that even if the film was in fact “hate speech,” no crime was being committed.
The show could go on!
Today Joe Biden is gaslighting Americans into thinking the word “women” is in the Declaration of Independence. Tomorrow he might very well be gaslighting Americans into thinking the word “competent” is part of the Second Amendment.
Yes. Words do matter.
Don’t think so? Just try misgendering a transsexual.
