White House clarifies that Biden did see neurologist in January – Washington Examiner
The White House press secretary clarified that President Joe Biden did see a neurologist in January, contradicting claims she made during a news briefing. The meeting between Dr. O’Connor and Dr. Cannard on January 17th was for the President’s physical, with this being one of three times he has seen Dr. Cannard for his physical examination. This clarification came after the press secretary initially stated that the specialist’s visit did not involve the president, before reversing herself. Biden’s physician, Dr. Kevin O’Connor, met with the neurologist on Jan. 17, with the findings of each examination being released to the public.
White House clarifies that Biden did see neurologist in January
The White House press secretary clarified that President Joe Biden did see a neurologist in January, contradicting claims she made during Tuesday’s news briefing.
“Because the date was not mentioned in the question, I want to be clear that the January 17th meeting between Dr. O’Connor and Dr. Cannard was for the President’s physical,” Karine Jean-Pierre said in a statement released Tuesday evening. “It was one of the three times the President has seen Dr. Cannard, each time for his physical. The findings from each exam have been released to the public.”
Earlier in the day, Jean-Pierre had insisted that the specialist’s visit to the White House did not involve the president. The neurologist, Dr. Kevin Cannard, met with Biden’s physician, Dr. Kevin O’Connor, on Jan. 17, a meeting the press secretary initially said was not about the president before reversing herself.
“I can say that it was not [related],” she said during the Tuesday news briefing when asked about the meeting.
The White House maintains that Cannard visited the executive mansion at other times for non-Biden-related business, which may have led to confusion on the part of the press secretary.
Jean-Pierre has been under fire this week for her responses to questions about Biden’s health following reports that Cannard, a Parkinson’s disease specialist, had visited the White House multiple times.

She has continued defending the president’s physical and mental capabilities in the face of calls from some Democrats for him to exit the 2024 election.
“He wants to get out there and continue to show that he has more work to do,” Jean-Pierre said.
