White House team given McDonald’s dinner before Trump joint address

The White House communications team was given a meal from McDonald’s before President Donald Trump’s address to Congress.

White House Deputy Communications Director Kaelan Dorr posted a photo of several boxes of McDonald’s fries, McDoubles, and McNuggets on X before the president’s speech.

“White House Comms is pre-gaming the Joint Session the MAGA way,” he said. “Buckle up for Must See TV!”

McDonald’s is a Trump favorite. He campaigned at the restaurant, scooping fries in an apron, as part of his appeal to become president. Trump also loves the food, favoring the Big Mac and Filet-o-Fish.

“I knew he was feeling better when he requested one of his favorite meals: a McDonald’s Big Mac, Filet-o-Fish, fries and a vanilla shake,” Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner wrote of Trump in his 2022 memoir after his father-in-law contracted COVID-19 in 2020.

Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has said he wants to “Make America Healthy Again” by limiting the spread of ultra-processed foods. McDonald’s is known for its very processed foods.

“We need to … deploy NIH and FDA to doing the research to understand the relationship between these different food additives and chronic disease, so that Americans understand it and make sure that Americans are aware,” Kennedy said. “But I don’t want to take food away from anybody. If you like … a McDonald’s cheeseburger, Diet Coke, which my boss loves, you should be able to get them.”
