In a letter to Congressional leaders on Monday, the Office of Management and Budget Director, Shalanda Young, claimed‍ that the United States is “out of money — and nearly⁤ out of time” to ‌provide weapons and equipment to ⁣Ukraine.

“I want to be clear: without congressional ⁤action, by the end of the year we will‌ run out of resources to procure more weapons and equipment for Ukraine‍ and to provide equipment from U.S.⁢ military⁤ stocks,” Young wrote. “There is no magical pot of funding available to meet this moment.”

Additionally, she also warned that not‍ giving aid to⁢ Ukraine would “kneecap Ukraine on the battlefield, not only‍ putting at risk the gains Ukraine has made, but ‍increasing the likelihood‍ of Russian ⁤military victories.”

“Already, our packages of⁢ security assistance ⁢have ⁤become smaller and the deliveries of aid have become more limited,” she wrote. “If our assistance stops, it will cause significant issues ⁣for ‍Ukraine. While our allies around‍ the world have stepped ‍up to do more,⁣ U.S. support is‌ critical⁢ and cannot be replicated by others.”

Young also claimed that Congress needs to accept the aid request from the⁤ Biden administration since it will help in the “best interest of⁤ national security.”

“I must stress ‍that ⁣helping⁣ Ukraine defend itself⁤ and secure its future as a sovereign, democratic, independent, and prosperous nation advances‍ our national security interests,” she wrote. “It prevents larger conflict in the ‌region that⁤ could ‍involve NATO and put‌ U.S. forces in harm’s way and deters future aggression, making us ‌all safer.”

“As President Biden has said, ⁢when dictators do not pay a‍ price for their aggression, they will cause ‌more chaos and⁤ death and‍ destruction. They just keep on going, and the cost and‍ the threats to America ‍and to the world will keep rising,” she ⁢added. “The path that Congress chooses will reverberate for many years ⁢to come.”

However, many Republican‍ officials⁤ have opposed giving more foreign aid, such as House Speaker‍ Mike Johnson‌ (R-La.), bringing up ‍worries of no clear war path and recent reports of fraud and⁢ misconduct in the Ukrainian government.

Johnson said in a post on X⁤ (Twitter) that Republicans want a warranted strategy for the ongoing war ‍in Ukraine before sending more aid. He also⁢ brought‍ up how additional⁤ security ⁤at the Southern border ‌should be first priority.

“The Biden administration has failed to substantively ‍address any of⁣ my conference’s ⁢legitimate‍ concerns about⁤ the lack of a clear strategy in Ukraine, a path to resolving the conflict, or⁣ a plan for adequately‍ ensuring accountability‍ for aid provided by American taxpayers,”‍ he wrote.

“Meanwhile, the Administration is continually ignoring the ⁤catastrophe at our own border,” he added. “House ‍Republicans have resolved that any national security supplemental package ⁢must begin with our own border. ‌We believe both issues can be agreed upon if‍ Senate Democrats and the White House will negotiate reasonably.”

How‍ does the Office of Management and‌ Budget Director argue that withholding aid from Ukraine could impact ‍the conflict?

OAN Urges Congress to Provide More Aid to Ukraine in War Against Russia

The White House has appealed to Congress for increased aid to Ukraine in their ongoing war against Russia. In ⁤a letter to Congressional leaders on ⁤Monday, the ⁢Office ⁣of Management and Budget Director,‍ Shalanda Young, emphasized that the United States is running out⁢ of⁣ both resources and time to provide weapons‍ and‍ equipment to‌ Ukraine.

“I want to be clear: without congressional action, by the end of the year ‌we will run out of resources to procure more weapons and⁣ equipment for Ukraine and⁤ to provide equipment from U.S. ⁤military⁣ stocks,” Young wrote. “There ⁣is no magical pot of funding available to meet this moment.”

Young⁢ also ⁢warned that ‌withholding ⁣aid from Ukraine would not only jeopardize the progress Ukraine has made⁣ but also increase the likelihood of Russian‌ military victories. She noted that the packages‍ of security assistance have ‍already become smaller and the deliveries of ⁤aid more‌ limited, stressing ⁢that U.S. support is critical and cannot ‍be replicated by others.

Furthermore, Young argued that accepting ⁣the aid request from the Biden administration is in the best interest of national security. She emphasized⁤ that helping Ukraine⁣ defend itself and secure its future aligns with U.S. national security interests and prevents larger conflicts in ⁤the ‍region that could⁢ involve‍ NATO and put U.S. forces at risk.

“As President Biden has said, when dictators do ⁤not pay a price ‌for their aggression, they will cause more chaos and ‌death and ⁣destruction. They ⁢just keep on going, and ⁤the cost and threats to‌ America and to the world will keep rising,” she added. “The path that Congress‍ chooses will reverberate for many years to come.”

However, many Republican officials have opposed providing more ‌foreign ‌aid. House ⁤Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) expressed ‍concerns about the lack of a clear strategy in Ukraine and recent reports of fraud and misconduct in the Ukrainian government. Johnson argued that Republicans want a warranted ⁤strategy for the⁣ ongoing war ⁢in Ukraine⁤ before sending more aid, ⁢and he emphasized that additional security at the Southern border should be the first priority.

“The Biden administration has failed to ⁢substantively ⁤address any of my conference’s legitimate concerns ‍about the lack of ⁢a clear strategy in‍ Ukraine, a path to resolving the⁢ conflict, or a plan for ⁢adequately ensuring accountability for ⁤aid provided by American taxpayers,” ‌Johnson wrote in a Twitter post.

The ⁢debate regarding increased aid to Ukraine continues, with proponents emphasizing the importance of supporting Ukraine’s defense efforts and opponents raising concerns about the⁣ lack⁢ of a clear strategy and ⁤potential misuse of ⁤funds. The decision made by Congress will have⁤ a significant impact on the future of the Ukraine-Russia conflict and ‌broader geopolitical dynamics.
