Although the White House did not name Russia directly, the mainstream media continues to spread baseless claims of Russian hacking in connection to the SolarWinds hack. On Wednesday, the White House said it would take “months” to probe the hacking of SolarWinds and to establish those responsible for it.

SolarWinds was reportedly hacked in 2020 and initial reports rushed to blame Russia without any evidence, which still has yet to emerge.

“This is challenging,” White House National Security Advisor Anne Neuberger said. “This is a sophisticated actor who did their best to hide their tracks. We believe it took them months to plan and execute this compromise. It will take us some time to uncover this, layer by layer.”

Additional reporting found some of the hacking was traced back to Mainland China in connection with alleged foreign meddling in the 2020 election.
