America’s strength lies in unity, not diversity
This is a portion of a speech delivered by Michael Knowles at CPAC on Thursday, February 22, 2024.
America’s Identity Crisis
America is in the midst of an identity crisis. We have lost sight of who we truly are. The root of this crisis can be traced back to a series of errors, with the most glaring being our lack of functional borders. Just as a house without walls is not a house, a nation without borders is not a nation. Over the past three years, Joe Biden has allowed nearly six million foreigners to enter our country illegally. Criminal cartels have facilitated their entry, resulting in the largest human trafficking operation in history.
This Democrat-led invasion is not what the majority of Americans want. We are told to accept it because we are supposedly “a nation of immigrants.” However, this phrase is not rooted in our founding documents. It only gained prominence in the mid-1960s when Democrats sought to use mass migration as a means to gain a permanent electoral advantage.
Furthermore, the notion that “diversity is our strength” is historically unfounded. Unity, not diversity, has always been the source of strength for nations. We are the United States of America, not the Divided States of America. As Ben Franklin warned in 1754, we must put aside our divisions and come together as one, or else we will perish.
Throughout our history, America has recognized the importance of controlled immigration. We have placed limits on it, not out of dislike for immigrants, but out of a desire to maintain stability and preserve our national identity. America was founded to be a “model of Christian charity,” a nation with its eyes on Heaven.
Contrary to liberal claims, America was not founded as a secular nation. The separation of church and state is a misinterpretation of our history. Religion has always played a significant role in shaping our laws and morals. Our Founding Fathers, the Federalist Papers, the Constitution, and the Declaration of Independence all acknowledge the importance of religion in our nation’s foundation.
President John Adams recognized that our Constitution was made for a moral and religious people. The decline in religiosity in America today is at the core of our identity crisis. Without grounding our identity in God, we are left asking, “Who am I?”
How does the influx of illegal immigrants impact the rule of law and the idea of a nation of laws, according to Knowles?
Ithout secure borders is not a nation. It is in this context that Michael Knowles addressed the audience at CPAC in his speech on Thursday, February 22, 2024, highlighting the urgent need to address America’s identity crisis.
Knowles began by emphasizing the importance of understanding history when discussing identity. He argued that America’s identity is rooted in its history, which includes the values and principles upon which the nation was built. To ignore this history is to neglect the essence of what it means to be American.
One of the key factors contributing to America’s identity crisis, according to Knowles, is the lack of functional borders. He pointed out that secure borders are essential for maintaining a nation’s sovereignty and protecting its citizens. Without secure borders, it becomes difficult to control who enters the country and to uphold the rule of law. Knowles drew an analogy between a house without walls and a nation without borders, highlighting the absurdity of neglecting such a crucial aspect of national security.
Knowles further argued that the consequences of porous borders extend beyond national security concerns. He asserted that the influx of illegal immigrants not only puts a strain on public resources but also undermines the rule of law and the idea of a nation of laws. He emphasized the importance of enforcing border control measures and implementing policies that prioritize the interests and well-being of American citizens.
In addition to addressing the issue of border security, Knowles highlighted the significance of cultural assimilation. He argued that a nation’s identity is also shaped by a common culture and shared values. However, he expressed concern that the adoption of multiculturalism and the rejection of assimilation have contributed to the erosion of American identity. Knowles cautioned against the notion that all cultures are equal, pointing out that not all ideas and values align with those of America.
Knowles concluded his speech by urging Americans to reclaim their identity and embrace the principles and values that have defined the nation since its inception. He called for a renewed commitment to secure borders, the rule of law, and the preservation of America’s cultural heritage.
In summary, Michael Knowles’ speech at CPAC shed light on America’s identity crisis and the factors contributing to it. He emphasized the importance of secure borders in maintaining national sovereignty and safeguarding the interests of American citizens. Knowles also highlighted the significance of cultural assimilation and the need to preserve America’s unique identity. Ultimately, he called on Americans to rediscover their identity and uphold the values that have defined the nation for centuries.
