The Left’s unsurprising antisemitic hysteria
The Lies the Left Chooses to Believe
In late 2019, I had the opportunity to volunteer in the captivating city of Hebron in the West Bank. This unexpected adventure was part of my month-long journey through Israel and the Palestinian territories. Little did I know that this experience would challenge my preconceived notions and open my eyes to the complexities of the region.
Upon arriving at a hostel in Hebron, I was mistaken for a volunteer by the owner, who warmly welcomed me into their cause. Intrigued by the owner’s passion for promoting peace and improving the lives of locals, I decided to embrace the opportunity.
During my time in Hebron, I formed a deep bond with a local friend who ran a charity focused on education, healthcare, and language services for the community. We spent evenings together, sharing stories over hookah sessions and discussing the intricacies of life. The locals, too, were incredibly hospitable, inviting me into their homes for tea and extending their warm hospitality.
However, not all the Western volunteers I encountered shared the same honorable intentions. In fact, I found some of them to be opportunistic, exploiting the victim narrative for their own gain under the guise of compassion. This realization has since shed light on the radical left’s reaction to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
While my local friend attributed all the region’s problems to “the occupation” and shared stories of trauma during the Second Intifada, I later discovered that his historical perspective was flawed. But what troubled me even more were the false narratives perpetuated by Western leftists who claimed to champion the Palestinian cause.
During tours and volunteer activities, I encountered Westerners who callously dismissed the murders of Israeli settlers as mere attention-seeking acts. They downplayed the severity of Palestinians launching knife attacks on IDF soldiers, almost justifying their actions. Even an Israeli man planting flowers near Jewish homes was unfairly labeled as hateful, while the rest of Hebron’s Palestinian residents were conveniently ignored.
These leftist volunteers seemed to embrace a distorted version of history, one that painted Israel as a product of “white settler colonialism” and portrayed the Arabs as innocent victims. Their shallow understanding of the complexities of the conflict became evident as they shared stories of drug use and group sex experiences, treating their visit to Palestine as a mere checkmark on their list of “different” places to see.
It is disheartening to witness the selective outrage and ignorance displayed by these individuals, especially when they claim to support Palestine while disregarding the brutal realities faced by its people. Perhaps they should consider the fate of Ahmad Abu Marhia, a gay Palestinian man who was beheaded last year after seeking asylum in Israel. Will their rainbow flags and indulgence in forbidden activities protect them from the militants they support?
The Big Lie at the Heart of the Left’s View
Following recent events, the left’s response becomes clearer when we examine the falsehoods they choose to believe about Israeli history. By unraveling these false narratives, we expose the core lie that shapes the left’s perception of Israel and the Jewish people.
The primary falsehood is the notion that Israel “stole” a country and emerged out of nowhere to oppress innocent Arabs. The truth is that Israel is the indigenous land of the Jewish people. The presence of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Sarah, Leah, and Rebecca’s burial sites in Hebron is not a coincidence; it signifies the deep historical connection between the Jewish people and the region. The Jewish return to Israel began long before the war of independence, with legal land purchases and a desire to reclaim their ancestral homeland.
A recent video capturing two American individuals tearing down posters announcing a vigil for Israeli hostages by Hamas exemplifies the left’s distorted perspective. These individuals refuse to explain their actions and instead curse those who confront them. Meanwhile, a bystander dismisses the act as insignificant. Imagine their reaction if an LGBT poster had been torn down. This incident reflects the left’s biased script on Israel, which attempts to delegitimize Jewish aspirations for strength and security.
Insanity on the Left Leads to More Violence
The modern Western left preaches that silence is violence when it comes to certain causes, yet they demand that actual terrorist violence be “contextualized.” Refusing to vocally support organizations like Black Lives Matter is deemed violent, but expressing horror at the slaughter of innocent Israeli children is dismissed as a lack of understanding “context.”
This absurdity propagated by the left is not only bewildering but also dangerous, as it fuels anti-Jewish violence. While I still empathize with the suffering of innocent Palestinian civilians, it is disheartening to witness their leadership’s corruption and genocidal tendencies. Hamas leaders in Gaza prioritize their militants over their own people, using civilians as shields and advocating for the sacrifice of potentially millions of innocent Palestinians for their cause.
With such leadership, who needs enemies? And with allies like the Western left, who needs opponents?
How has Israel demonstrated a willingness to negotiate a peaceful resolution with the Palestinians, and how has the Palestinian leadership responded to these efforts
A result of a legal and legitimate process. The establishment of the State of Israel was determined by the United Nations in 1947 through Resolution 181, which called for the partition of Palestine into separate Jewish and Arab states. The Jewish community accepted this proposal, while the Arab nations rejected it and initiated a war against Israel in 1948.
Contrary to the left’s claims, Israel did not seize land that belonged to the Palestinians. The Jewish people have historical and legal ties to the land of Israel, dating back thousands of years. Jewish presence and settlements were established long before the establishment of the State of Israel. Additionally, the land that Israel now occupies was largely purchased from Arab landowners, rather than taken by force.
The left’s distorted narrative also ignores the reality that Israel has continuously shown a willingness to negotiate a peaceful resolution with the Palestinians. Several Israeli governments have made significant concessions, including withdrawing from territories and offering a two-state solution. However, these offers have been repeatedly rejected by the Palestinian leadership, who continue to advocate for the destruction of Israel.
Another falsehood perpetuated by the left is the claim that Israel is an apartheid state. This analogy is not only inaccurate, but it also diminishes the true horrors and injustices of apartheid in South Africa. Arab citizens of Israel enjoy equal rights, including the right to vote, hold public office, and serve in the judiciary. Arab-Israelis also have access to healthcare, education, and economic opportunities. While there are ongoing challenges to be addressed, such as the issue of settlements, painting Israel as an apartheid state is a gross misrepresentation.
By perpetuating these false narratives, the left undermines the prospects for peace and perpetuates division and hostility. It is essential to have an honest and nuanced understanding of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict to achieve a meaningful resolution. It requires acknowledging the historical and legal rights of both the Jewish and Palestinian peoples and encouraging constructive dialogue and compromise.
Conclusion
My experience in Hebron taught me the importance of questioning preconceived notions and seeking a comprehensive understanding of complex situations. It is all too easy to buy into false narratives and stereotypes, particularly when they align with our pre-existing beliefs. However, when it comes to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, it is crucial to approach the issue with an open mind and a commitment to truth.
The left’s unquestioning acceptance of false narratives perpetuates division and heightens tensions in the region. It hinders progress towards a peaceful resolution and undermines the possibilities for coexistence and understanding. It is essential to debunk the lies that the left chooses to believe about Israel and to strive for a genuine and informed conversation that respects the rights and aspirations of all parties involved. Only through honest dialogue and a commitment to truth can we hope to find a lasting and just resolution to this complex conflict.
