Wife Of Sex Pistols’ Johnny Rotten Dies At 80 After Alzheimers Battle
Nora Foster, who was the wife of Johnny Rotten from Sex Pistols, has died at the age of 80 after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease. The former frontman of the band, whose real name is John Lydon, shared the news on Twitter on Thursday. In his emotional message, Lydon requests space to grieve and respect for his wife. The tweet included a touching photo of the couple hugging each other.
Foster’s death comes after only a few months since the release of the song “Hawaii,” which Lydon had dedicated to her with his band Public Image Ltd. The song is a message of love and hope that depicts some of the couple’s most joyful moments together. Lydon had left the stage to dedicate himself fully to care for Foster in her illness. He also became an advocate to raise awareness of Alzheimer’s disease.
The band had entered the song “Hawaii” in the singing competition Eurovision with hopes of representing Ireland. Although they lost the chance to perform the song at the competition, the group is expected to compete in the Eurovision Song Contest in Liverpool next month.
