Winsome Earle-Sears blasts Obama’s ‘shaming’ lecture on Harris enthusiasm: ‘How dare you’ – Washington Examiner
In a recent statement, Virginia’s Republican Lieutenant Governor Winsome Earle-Sears criticized former President Barack Obama for his remarks aimed at encouraging black men to support Vice President Kamala Harris in the upcoming election. Earle-Sears accused Obama of attempting to “shame” black men for their lack of enthusiasm, suggesting that his comments reflected a desperate grasp for support by the Democrats. She emphasized that black men should have the autonomy to make their own voting decisions without being pressured or shamed by others, asserting that such tactics are inappropriate and counterproductive.
Winsome Earle-Sears blasts Obama’s ‘shaming’ lecture on Harris enthusiasm: ‘How dare you’
Virginia Republican Lieutenant Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears blasted former President Barack Obama for “shaming” black men into voting for Vice President Kamala Harris in November.
The former president delivered a message that Earle-Sears described as Obama “trying to grasp at straws” while speaking to black men in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, last week. Obama said black men “just aren’t feeling the idea of having a woman as president.”
“You know, I think that they’ve run out of arguments, the Democrats, and they’re trying to grasp at straws as a drowning man will. And it’s unfortunate because the very black men that they say that they support and that they will defend, that they are now shaming them,” Earle-Sears said on Sunday Morning Futures. “How dare you tell us what to do. You make your own choices, and we will make ours. That’s how this whole thing works. It has never been your duty to shame us. And so we’re going to make our own decisions.”
As for Earle-Sears, she is voting as a matter of “national security” and implied she will vote for former President Donald Trump. Harris has come under scrutiny for her dealings with the border amid an unprecedented influx of immigrants.
In 2020, black voters made up 13.5% of all eligible voters. They are expected to make up 14% in 2024, according to the Pew Research Center.
Joe Biden won 92% of the black vote in 2020.
