Wisconsin-based band Bon Iver set to perform at Harris’s Eau Claire rally

Grammy Award-winning band Bon Iver will perform at Vice President Kamala Harris and her soon-to-be-named running mate’s rally on Wednesday in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.

The indie folk band was formed in Eau Claire in 2006 and is led by lead vocalist Justin Vernon, who says his politics fall more in line with Sens. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and Elizabeth Warren (D-MA).

Back in 2020, Vernon backed Sanders for president, and he was part of a video campaign ad promoting him.

The band has also been a part of nonpartisan get-out-the-vote campaigns as well as efforts to “encourage people to bridge their differences and engage in the political process.”

“I try not to judge people,” Vernon said on his collaboration with a get-out-the-vote effort in 2020. “The temperature of our society has us divided. We all want different things, so that makes sense in one way, but in another, I feel we are unduly divided. We all need to listen more. And the best way we can communicate with each other on this largest scale is vote.”

Last week, rapper Megan Thee Stallion performed at Harris’s rally in Atlanta, Georgia. Global superstar Beyonce has also backed Harris and let her use her songs in her presidential campaign.

Harris plans to hit seven states in five days this week, while GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump’s running mate, Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH), will attend a slew of press events in the same states that Harris is campaigning in.

Meanwhile, Trump is collaborating with Generation Z internet culture celebrities in an attempt to boost support with younger voters. He has appeared on YouTuber Logan Paul’s podcast and with 23-year-old Twitch streamer Adin Ross.
