With A Split Congress, Democrats Are Taking Their Election Takeover Scheme To The States
Democrats are back with a new strategy to regain control of America’s electoral system after they failed to secure a federal takeover in state elections administration two years ago.
Leftists in blue state legislatures are pushing for election bills to drastically overhaul state elections and enshrine Democrat-backed voting methods into law. The vast effort is part of a larger effort to implement the HR 1 policies of national Democrats in every state.
It is deceptively called the “For the People Act,” HR 1 This bill was supported by Congress Democrats and President Joe Biden in the early months 2021. This legislation was a concentrated effort by Democrats to consolidate many of the insecure practices used during the 2020 election into federal laws and allow the federal government control over the electoral process.
It’s many Changes The provisions that affect election administration include those banning voter ID requirements, mandating universal postal balloting and legalizing widespread use for ballot drop boxes. Additionally, the bill is in violation of core Constitutional provisions like the Elections Clause (Article I) and the Electors Clause (Article II), which state that the states are responsible for ensuring the integrity of ballot drop boxes. Not The federal government is responsible for overseeing and managing elections.
Although House Democrats were able to pass HR 1, Senate Republicans effectively killed it once it reached the upper chamber. The House of Representatives being controlled by the Republicans, HR 1 is unlikely to be passed for at least two more years. State Democrats have taken it upon them to push some of the core objectives of the bill in their respective legislatures.

The bill also seeks to increase the use of ballot drops boxes by requiring that all counties have at least two boxes within their borders. The bill also contains a provision that permits convicted felons, who have not completed parole or probation, to register to vote once they are released from prison. (Prior Analyses Studies have shown that most convicts are registered as Democrats, rather than Republicans.
