Three key individuals silently seated at the back of the courtroom demand attention amidst the focus on Trump’s arraignment.
Former President Donald Trump Arraigned: A Spectacle in Washington, D.C. Courtroom
Former President Donald Trump was arraigned on Thursday, and it was quite the event. But let’s not forget the bigger picture here.
Impeachments, raids, charges, accusations – it seems like there’s no end to the efforts to bring Trump down. And now, they want to indict him for trying to overturn the 2020 election. But what about the 147 Republicans who voted not to certify the election results? Shouldn’t they be charged too?
It’s interesting to note that over a fourth of Congress had concerns about the election, yet Trump is the one facing indictment. Many of us witnessed the irregularities on election night, the suspicious ballot drop boxes, and the manipulations of social media in favor of Joe Biden. It’s hard to ignore these facts.
The arraignment took place in a Washington, D.C. courtroom, and it was quite a scene. Members of the news media had to be selected by lottery to gain entrance. The jury box and public gallery were filled with law clerks, court staff, sketch artists, and a few lucky members of the public. Several judges of Washington’s federal district court were also present, including Chief Judge James Boasberg and Magistrate Judge Michael Harvey. And let’s not forget Judge Amy Berman Jackson, who had previously criticized Trump during the Capitol incursion trials.
Washington loves a spectacle, and this arraignment was no exception. Just take a look at the courtroom sketch shared on Twitter.

But let’s not forget history. In 1974, President Gerald Ford pardoned former President Richard Nixon for any crimes he may have committed while in office. Ford’s decision was criticized at the time, but he believed it was necessary to heal the nation’s wounds. Short-sighted politicians today seem to care more about their own agendas than the unity of the nation.
It’s important to remember that the world is watching. The outcome of this trial will not only affect Donald Trump but also the future and prestige of the republic. So let’s pay attention to the three important people sitting quietly at the back of the courtroom.
