Last week, Delaware Assistant U.S. Attorney Lesley Wolf faced tough questioning from House Republicans regarding her role in blocking federal criminal investigations into Hunter Biden and potentially Joe Biden. The Federalist reviewed a 159-page transcript of Wolf’s testimony, which revealed her repeated use of the “not authorized” defense. Wolf recently left her position at the DOJ, adding to the suspicion surrounding her actions.

House Republicans have already determined that the DOJ deliberately hindered the investigation into Hunter Biden’s federal tax crimes and deviated from standard procedures to protect the Bidens. Wolf’s efforts to keep Joe Biden’s name out of the probe played a significant role in these findings.
Testimonies from IRS whistleblowers Gary Shapley and Joseph Ziegler confirmed that Wolf sought to shield Joe Biden by demanding investigators omit his name from a search warrant related to the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA). Wolf also dissuaded IRS investigators from searching Joe’s Wilmington guest house where Hunter resided.
Wolf’s repeated attempts to protect the Bidens, her involvement in obstructing congressional oversight, and the DOJ’s refusal to allow her to testify led to her formal subpoena by GOP House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan. Although she agreed to a voluntary interview, Wolf warned that she would not be able to answer most of the questions posed to her.
During the interview, Wolf parroted DOJ talking points, denying any partisan influence on the investigation. She also refused to admit that she was the lead Assistant U.S. Attorney on the case and dismissed further questioning by claiming the Hunter probe is ongoing.
Despite her obfuscation, Wolf maintained that she acted in compliance with DOJ policies. However, evidence suggests that ultimate authority to charge Hunter Biden rested with other U.S. Attorneys and the Biden DOJ’s Tax Division, not David Weiss, who recently charged Hunter with federal tax crimes but ignored his family’s foreign influence-peddling.
Wolf’s testimony revealed that she was aware of the statute of limitations in each case, hinting that allowing them to expire is unusual.
