‘Withhold Any Judgement’: Widow Of NFL’s Dwayne Haskins Releases Statement Following Autopsy Report

Kalabrya Haskins, the widow of deceased NFL quarterback Dwayne Haskins, released a statement following a public autopsy report of her late husband, asking the public to “withhold any judgement.”

Haskins died last month. He was struck by a dump truck as he was attempting to cross the westbound lanes of I-595 in Broward County, Florida.

A recent medical report showed that the 24-year-old had a .20 blood alcohol content level at the time of his death and tested positive for drugs ketamine and norketamine. Haskins also reportedly had a “female companion” in the vehicle he exited just before the accident.

“On behalf of Dwayne’s wife, his family, and his memory, and on behalf of the truth, we respectfully request and pray for privacy, for patience and for the public to withhold any judgement during this period while the law enforcement authorities continue to investigate and conduct their important work,” the statement said.

The statement was from attorney Rick Ellsley, on behalf of Kalabrya, Ian Rapoport reported.

Haskins “had a considerable amount of alcohol in his system at the time of his death, with his blood at .20 and another fluid level at .24,” Sports Illustrated detailed in a report on Monday, referencing an autopsy report from the Broward Medical Examiner’s Office, obtained by the Miami Herald.

The legal limit for blood alcohol content in Florida, where Haskins died, is .08.

The medical report added that “investigators found his car on the side of I-595 with a ‘female companion’ inside the vehicle,” Sports Illustrated said. “The nature of Haskins’s relationship with the unnamed woman was not included in the report.”

Haskins reportedly left a nightclub after heavy drinking over a fight.

News outlets last month picked up on an emotional comment Haskins left on Kalabrya’s Instagram posts eight weeks before his death.

Fox News reported:

Kalabrya Haskins last posted on Instagram a picture of her and the NFL quarterback on Valentine’s Day this past February. Her pictures include everything from their vacations and outings on the town to little funny moments the two of them shared together.

The former Washington and Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback commented on the post. “Helped me through my storm so we gone shine forever. I love you mamí,” he wrote.

Following Haskins’ death, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said he was “truly heartbroken.”

“I am devastated and at a loss for words with the unfortunate passing of Dwayne Haskins,” Tomlin said in a statement, The Daily Wire reported. “He quickly became part of our Steelers family upon his arrival in Pittsburgh and was one of our hardest workers, both on the field and in our community. Dwayne was a great teammate, but even more so a tremendous friend to so many. I am truly heartbroken.”
