Without Black Lives Matter, Tyre Nichols Might Not Have Died In Memphis Last Week

The Memphis Police Department hired two of the five officers involved in Tyre Nichols’ fatal beating. This was after it relaxed its hiring criteria, according to a new report. The New York Post shows.

After their education qualifications to be officers were drastically lowered two years ago, Tadarrius Bean joined the MPD along with Demetrius Haley in August 2020. The department nixed the required associate’s degree or 54 college credit hours for recruits in 2018 due to a lack of applicants.

“They’re desperate. They want police officers,” The Post heard from Mike Alcazar, a retired NYPD detective. “They’re going through it, they check off some boxes, saying, ‘Ok, they’re good enough, get them on.”

The department was actually so desperate for new recruits that it offered to help. $15,000 signing bonuses Both 2021-2022 and waivers for felonies-convicted applicants. However, this didn’t stop the force from reducing 500 officers by January 2022.

Former Deputy Director of MPD Mike Ryall was hired in September 2020, just a month after Bean & Haley were hired. Telled the Memphis Commercial Appeal that the rise of violent crime in the city could be attributed to the police department’s understaffing and lack of manpower.

Bean and Haley also worked during the George Floyd Riots, which was a worldwide protest movement started by Black Lives Matter to respond to Floyd’s death. The protests spread across America to more than 2000 cities, causing More than $1 billion in property loss At least 25 people must be killed. This was the main motto of such a movement. “defund the police,” The impact on the morale of the police force was significant.

A June 2021 survey conducted by the Police Executive Research Forum, (PERF) revealed that the retirement rate at police departments is approximately 5%. The 2020 increase was 45% There was a 20% rise in resignations compared to last year. Also, the hiring rate dropped by 5%.

Simply stated, police officers quit at an unprecedented rate across the country in order to escape such hostile environments. Departments were also struggling to meet minimum staffing needs. This was in conjunction with a huge Crime wave across America’s major cities.

“So at that very moment you’re hoping you can put police out there to try to deal with crime, you’re seeing the workforce shrinking with an unprecedented number of retirements and resignations,” PERF’s Executive Director Chuck Wexler NPR.

Although a shortage in recruits does not mean that there is an excuse to relax hiring standards for cops it is a result of the disastrous dynamics leftist elites and Black Lives Matter have created. To inflame hatred and racism, there is a lot power and money. It is done at the expense of safety, especially for black Americans like Nichols.

For sure, let the cops implicated in Nichols’ death be charged to the fullest extent of the law, but it is important to remember why officers of that quality were hired to those positions in the first
