‘Criminal Minds’ actor joins writers’ picket line, declares writers as essential.

Former “Criminal Minds” Actor Mandy Patinkin Joins Hollywood Writers Strike

On Wednesday, former “Criminal Minds” actor Mandy Patinkin joined the picket line in support of the Writers Guild of America, which has been on strike since May 2. Patinkin picked up a sign and joined the protest on behalf of the writers, shouting in a video, “Without writers we have nothing!”

Why the Strike?

The strike is a result of failed negotiations with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers. The writers are asking for fairness, as they provide the storylines, jokes, and dialogue that make actors and directors look good. The strike has already begun to cripple the industry as work on most shows has come to an abrupt halt.

Actors Join in Solidarity

Patinkin is not the only actor to join in acts of solidarity with the striking writers. Comedian Jay Leno delivered donuts to writers on the picket lines in the strike’s early days, while Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers have put up some of their own cash to help pay staffers while their shows are shut down.

Patinkin’s Message

Patinkin’s message to the industry is clear: “Make sure you take care of people! You guys get millions and millions of dollars — for God’s sake, without the writers, we’re nothing!”

  • Writers provide the storylines, jokes, and dialogue that make actors and directors look good.
  • They create the stories that make our hearts beat.
  • Help out now!

Patinkin’s message is a reminder that writers are the backbone of the entertainment industry and deserve fair compensation for their work.
