WNBA player criticizes America, clashes with senator over SCOTUS decisions.
WNBA Player Sparks Controversy with Strong Words
A WNBA player recently ignited a social media firestorm after expressing her frustration with recent Supreme Court decisions. Natasha Cloud, a guard for the Washington Mystics, didn’t hold back in her criticism of America, calling it “trash” and accusing the country of oppressing marginalized groups.
Our country is trash in so many ways and instead of using our resources to make it better we continue to oppress Marginalized groups that we have targeted since the beginning of times.
Black/brown communities & LGBTQ+ man we are too powerful to still be attacking issues separate.

Florida GOP senator Marco Rubio didn’t let Cloud’s comments go unanswered. He defended America’s freedom of speech but challenged her to name a better country. Rubio even playfully suggested that she wouldn’t be planning any trips to Russia.
America is a free country so she has the right to call it “trash.” But at least tell us which countries you think are better. For example, I bet she isn’t planning any trips to Russia this off-season. https://t.co/C2VQRVVxVP

Cloud didn’t back down and continued to voice her frustrations, criticizing what she called the “inhumane savagery” of Americans and Europeans.
We need to continue to lead with love and light. The inhumane savagery way is a very American/European ideology. We’re above that. But we do need to fight.

As the debate heated up, Cloud faced criticism from some who suggested she should leave the country if she was unhappy. In response, she defiantly stated that she would gladly do so.
I will be lolol gladly

Cloud didn’t stop there. She criticized the police, calling for an end to police murders, racial disparities in incarceration, and advocating for women’s rights.
Cause these are things that America is capable of… and when I say trash this is what I’m referring to. We choose to allow politicians to line their pockets and spit false and hateful ideologies to pit us against each other. America is a business.

Finally, Cloud took aim at religious Americans, criticizing the politicization and hypocrisy she sees in the country’s religious institutions.
“Religion in this country is political, it’s weaponized, it’s hypocritical, it’s disappointing,” she wrote. “It’s not love. Because God is love. In the purest form. Take a good hard look at how y’all live your life in a constant state of hate and judgment. Hypocrisy at its finest.”
