An elderly Holocaust Survivor was It is claimed that Tricked He offered to give millions of dollars to a 36 year-old woman he met through a dating site.

The Department of Justice revealed Peaches Stergo was indicted. A press release was released Wednesday saying that the woman, Peaches, had been accused of cheating an 87 year-old man who survived WWII from his life savings. On Wednesday, she was arrested and will be appearing in court in Florida.

“As alleged, for years, Stergo deceived an 87-year-old Holocaust survivor, maliciously draining his life savings so she could become a millionaire through fraud. Stergo forged documents and impersonated a bank employee in exchange for a life of fancy trips, Rolex watches, and luxury purchases,” U.S. Attorney Damian Williams stated. “Today’s arrest reemphasizes this Office’s commitment to seeking justice for victims of financial frauds.”

The DOJ released the indictment. It claimed that Stergo plotted to deceive the elderly man from May 2017 to the fall 2021. This was all of the money he had saved throughout his life.

The two became acquainted through an internet dating site around six to seven year ago. Stergo lied for more than four decades, starting with a claim that Stergo needed to borrow money to pay her lawyer. He gave her the money, but she continued to lie, telling the victim that she would transfer funds to her bank account. She said that if he didn’t give her the money, then the accounts would freeze and he would never get his money back.

To make it appear like she was a TD Bank employee, she also created a fake email and forged letters from a bank worker. She also produced fraudulent invoices.

She spent the money that she received from him to buy a condo, boat and multiple cars as well as a gated house. She went on expensive vacations, stayed at Ritz-Carlton locations and bought jewelry and high-end clothing. The elderly man lost all his money and had to leave his apartment.

“Today we allege the defendant callously preyed on a senior citizen simply seeking companionship, defrauding him of his life savings. The FBI is determined to get justice for victims of fraud and to ensure that scammers face justice for their actions,” FBI Assistant Director Michael J. Driscoll added, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Southern District of New York.
