Police suspect the woman found deceased in a church may have been ghost hunting for a TikTok video

A French woman found dead in an Italian church Wednesday may have been hunting ghosts for a TikTok stunt, according to authorities.

The woman, only identified as being 22 years old and from a town near Lyon in France, was found dead and drained of blood in an abandoned church in Italy’s Aosta Valley, according to a report by CNN.

Authorities said the woman was stabbed with a “camping knife,” had been shot three times postmortem, and that blood had been removed from the scene.

Police in La Salle are searching for a young man who was seen with the woman while she was traveling and suggested the death may be connected to a trend on social media concerning hunting ghosts. A spokeswoman for the police said the woman may have been searching for a “haunted house” in the area.

Authorities also speculated the death may have been a “consented murder” or part of a sacrifice and that the woman and the man were pale and dressed as “vampires.”

Police said the woman was found without her cellphone or identification but that she was found with groceries, including a bag of pink marshmallows.
