World Economic Forum Panel: Hate Speech Laws Are Coming to the U.S.
One participant on the panel of the World Economic Forum. “The Clear and Present Danger of Disinformation” At their annual meeting in Davos, Tuesday saw a chilling prediction about hate speech laws in America.
The panel, which was hosted by Brian Stelter, a former CNN host, featured Rep. Seth Moulton (D–MA) as well Arthur Gregg Sulzberger who is the chairman of The New York Times Company.
European Commission Vice President for Values and Transparency Věra Jourová, who is from the Czech Republic, said there are reasons why many parts in Europe have strong speech code laws and the United States could soon have them too.
“Illegal hate speech, which you will have soon also in the U.S., I think that we have a strong reason why we have this in the criminal law,” Jourová said. “We need to the platforms to simply work with the language and to identify such cases.”
Sulzberger stated that overall Disinformation is “the most existential” Reporting stories presents challenges and solutions to all kinds of problems The New York Times made incorrect statements.

Moulton specifically criticized Rep. George Santos, R-NY, for fabricating claims about his life to disinformation. This is despite President Joe Biden’s long history of false claims to improve their credentials.
