New meaning found in iconic ‘Home Alone’ scene due to Bidenomics
Wow: Iconic ‘Home Alone’ Scene Takes on a Whole New Meaning Thanks to Bidenomics
There’s a scene in the iconic 1990 Christmas movie “Home Alone” where the protagonist, Kevin, goes shopping by himself. As you may remember, the movie is about an 8-year-old accidentally left alone at home who has to fend for himself.
Some of the items in the precocious Kevin’s grocery cart were a TV dinner, a loaf of Wonder Bread, frozen Mac and Cheese, Saran wrap, a half-gallon of milk, Tide, half a gallon of orange juice, toilet paper, dryer sheets, and a pack of plastic soldiers.
Home Alone Kevin McCallister’s 1990 grocery trip in ‘Home Alone,’ which cost $19.83, would today be $68.00, marking a 248% increase due to inflation.

Along with a coupon, Kevin’s total bill came to $19.83.
According to Fox News, if you bought everything on Kevin’s list last year, your total would have been $44.40. In 2023, that same grocery list would cost $72.28.
While inflation has cooled a bit from 40-year highs, a Fox News poll found that 78 percent of respondents still rate the economy negatively. Most don’t see permanent relief coming soon.
American households now spend over 30 percent more on grocery essentials than they did in 2020, Census Bureau data shows, according to Natural News. For a typical family of four, the weekly food bill has swelled from $238 to $315. That’s over $300 more per month.
Ground beef prices have surged since January 2020, from $3.89 per pound to $5.23. Coffee rings up at about $2 more per pound than just three years ago.
Even basics such as fresh fruits and vegetables carry almost 14% higher price tags today.
It’s not just groceries: Bidenomics has affected every aspect of American life.
From mortgages to Christmas trees, Americans are spending more at every turn — an average of $11,434 more to maintain the same lifestyle they had in 2021, according to CBS News.
Dining out requires carefully scanning menus to gauge damage rather than debating options.
Even the iconic Big Mac extra value meal now costs about $10 more at some locations than it did in 2018, during the Trump administration, Natural News reported.
I think about this scene in Home Alone a lot, Kevin got all those groceries for only $19.83 pic.twitter.com/z2xGRCdRgi

While Kevin’s first grocery trip was a huge success for him, there’s nothing fun or victorious about shopping anymore when a quick grocery run breaks the $100 mark with half of your list still to go.
Christmas movies such as “Home Alone” used to evoke memories of childhood innocence and the joys of Christmas’s past. But in 2023, the memories it evokes most is of a time before Bidenomics, when you could fill two grocery bags with less than $20 in your wallet.

What impact has inflation had on the average American household’s ability to afford nutritious meals and grocery essentials?
Ican life, from gas prices to housing costs. The soaring inflation rates are taking a toll on the average American, and the impact is even felt in the most unexpected places, such as a scene from a beloved Christmas movie.
The famous grocery shopping scene from “Home Alone” takes on a whole new meaning when viewed through the lens of Bidenomics. In the scene, young Kevin is left home alone and takes it upon himself to go grocery shopping. His items include simple household staples like TV dinners, bread, and mac and cheese.
David Croom, a Twitter user, recently pointed out the inflationary impact on Kevin’s grocery bill. He calculated that Kevin’s total bill in 1990, including a coupon, came to $19.83. However, if you were to buy the same items today, it would cost you $68.00, marking a staggering 248% increase due to inflation.
According to Fox News, if you were to buy everything on Kevin’s list last year, your total would have been $44.40. However, in 2023, that same list would cost $72.28. This drastic increase in grocery prices reflects the current economic climate and the strain it is putting on American households.
Inflation has been a pressing concern for the Biden administration, as it has reached 40-year highs. Despite some recent cooling, the majority of Americans still rate the economy negatively. Permanent relief seems elusive, and many are feeling the pinch when it comes to grocery shopping.
Census Bureau data shows that American households are now spending over 30% more on grocery essentials than they did in 2020. For an average family of four, the weekly food bill has increased from $238 to $315. This translates to an additional $300 per month, putting a strain on already tight budgets.
It’s not just the overall increase in grocery prices that is concerning. Specific items like beef and coffee have seen significant price hikes in recent years. Ground beef prices have surged from $3.89 per pound in January 2020 to $5.23 per pound. Coffee prices have also risen by about $2 per pound in just three years.
Fresh fruits and vegetables, typically seen as healthy and affordable choices, have also seen price increases of around 14%. This makes it even more challenging for families to provide nutritious meals for their loved ones.
The impact of inflation is not limited to the grocery store. American households are feeling the effects across various aspects of their lives, including rising gas prices and housing costs. Bidenomics has had a far-reaching effect on the economy, and the consequences are being felt by the average American.
As we reflect on the iconic scene from “Home Alone,” it serves as a reminder of the economic challenges many families are facing. The drastic increase in grocery prices highlighted by Kevin’s shopping trip is a reflection of the larger issue of inflation in the country.
While it may be tempting to dismiss this as just a movie reference, it is important to recognize the real-life implications. The rising cost of living affects families’ ability to provide for their basic needs and maintain their quality of life. It is a pressing issue that requires attention and action from policymakers.
As we enter the holiday season, let us remember the significance of this iconic scene from “Home Alone.” It serves as a stark reminder of the economic challenges many Americans face and the need for solutions to combat inflation and ensure a more stable and affordable future for all.
