1 Dead, 18 Injured in Maryland Greyhound Bus Crash
Tragic Wrong-Way Crash Claims One Life and Injures 18 Others
SAVAGE, Md.—In a devastating incident on a Maryland highway, a Greyhound passenger bus collided with an SUV driving on the wrong side of the road, resulting in one fatality and 18 injuries, according to police reports.
The driver of the SUV tragically lost their life in the early hours of Thursday when their vehicle collided head-on with the bus. The crash also caused injuries to the bus driver and 17 passengers on board.
The incident occurred around 3:30 a.m. on Route 32 near Interstate 95 in the Savage area. The bus, carrying 38 passengers, was traveling eastbound when it collided with a Buick Enclave traveling in the opposite direction on the eastbound lanes, as stated in a news release by the Howard County police. Savage is located approximately 15 miles (24.14 kilometers) southwest of Baltimore.
The driver of the Buick, identified as Samuel Isaac King, 37, of Columbia, sadly passed away at the scene. The bus driver and the injured passengers were promptly transported to nearby hospitals for treatment. Fortunately, their injuries were not life-threatening, according to the police.
When asked about the bus’s itinerary, Howard County Police Department spokesperson Lori Boone stated that they did not have specific details at the time.
