Wyoming governor signs bill banning abortion pills in the state
Gov. On Friday, Mark Gordon (R.WY) signed a bill banning abortion pills access and allowed another bill to take effect that restricted abortions.
The new law claims that it will be “unlawful to prescribe, dispense, distribute, sell or use any drug for the purpose of procuring or performing an abortion.” The penalty for breaking the law, which goes into effect July 1, is a six-month sentence in prison and a maximum fine of $9,000.

Gordon stated that he signed the bill as it was important for him “bolsters protection for the unborn,” According to Washington Post. For natural miscarriages, pills are still available.
The latest state to restrict access to the pill is this one, which joins a group that includes 15 conservative states. Six of those states require an in-person visit from a physician.
The Supreme Court’s historic decision of last year to overturn the historic abortion ruling reactivated the debate about abortion. Roe v. Wade The topic of abortion pills came up this week, after a Texas federal judge raised concerns about a group’s attempt to reverse the decades-old approval for mifepristone (one of the two abortion pills) in Texas. Two-pill combination abortion is the most popular in the U.S.
Thirteen other states have complete bans on abortion. However, abortion is legal in Wyoming. A ban is currently being considered in the state.

Gordon also called for a referendum to address abortions and claimed that they were legal. “needs to be decided as soon as possible so that the issue of abortion in Wyoming can be finally resolved, and that is best done with a vote of the people.”
Gordon indicated that he believes both laws will be challenged in court.
