The reason why our democracy is in trouble is because folks don’t have the courage to stand up when they need to.”
Garvey didn’t let Schiff’s response slide. He fired back, “Sir, you lied to 300 million people and you can’t take that back.”
Censure Resolution Reveals Damning Allegations Against Schiff
The censure resolution passed in June 2023 against Schiff shed light on the allegations against him. The resolution declared that the claims of collusion between President Donald Trump and Russia in the 2016 Presidential election were proven false by multiple thorough investigations.
Furthermore, the resolution accused Schiff of abusing the trust placed in him as the former chair of the House Intelligence Committee. It stated that he had access to sensitive intelligence that most Members of Congress did not have, and he had misused this privilege.

It concluded by asserting that Schiff had misled the American people and brought disrepute upon the House of Representatives.

To criticize,” Schiff continued. “So, if you want to accuse me of lying, go ahead. But I stand by my words, and I stand by my actions of holding the president accountable.”
