Youngkin Thwarts Democrat Election Scheme With Return To Virginia Constitution On Felon Voting
Virginia’s governor Glenn Youngkin even threw a wrench into the numerous get-out-the-vote options put forth by Democrats. In a letter to state lawmakers next month, Youngkin’s administration announced that he would revoke his predecessors’ decision to instantly grant felons the right to vote. Therefore, Youngkin will decide whether an ex-offender can be granted individual voting rights in accordance with the state constitution.
According to Secretary of the Commonwealth Kay C. James, the Constitution places the duty of considering Virginians for renovation in the fingers of both the Governor and the Secretary as delegated. The Governor instructed me and our company to make sure that our use and deliberation were legitimate and fair after the commencement, and to ensure that each candidate was taken into account separately in accordance with the Constitution and the Supreme Court of Virginia’s 2016 ruling.
People who have been found guilty of a crime are entirely prohibited from voting under the Virginia Constitution unless the government or another authority grants them permission to do so. Democratic Governor in 2016 More than 200, 000 criminals were granted the right to vote after serving their words by Terry McAuliffe‘s senior purchase. McAuliffe ended up pardoning released offenders singly even though the Virginia Supreme Court overturned the purchase. His son, Governor The same was done by Ralph Northam, who omitted McAuliffe‘s demand that felons serve their entire sentences. As a result, under McAuliffe and under Northam, more than 170 000 ex-cons were permitted to cast ballots.
Nevertheless, the number is lower under Youngkin. About 5, 000 felons who had been freed from prison in Virginia were allowed to vote in 2022, while about 12, 000 people apparently did so annually.
According to Bolts Magazine, Youngkin official Macaulay Porter said that” restoration of freedom are assessed on an individual basis in accordance with the law, taking into account the particular components of each situation, practicing kindness for those who need it, and ensuring public health for our nation and families.”
No one mentions that restoring election privileges to ex-cons is a key component of Democrats’ get-out-the-vote projects, despite corporate media outlets and some on the remaining criticizing Youngkin’s departure from his predecessors and comparing his action to Jim Crow.
Democrats are offended as they get ready for the 2024 general election, as I’ve formerly stated. Protesters are pushing to increase automatic voter registration units and allow criminals to voting as well as pre-registering teenagers. They are doing this by capitalizing on their previous performance of harvesting low-effort votes and targeting blocs of would-be Democratic voters. Liberals are aware that adding fresh voters increases the number of votes cast for their preferred candidates by hundreds, possibly pushing them past the start line in particular votes.
Jason Snead, the executive director of the Honest Elections Project, told me late last year that” Democrats are usually looking for new people to bring into the election system and calculating the targeted groups who will be more likely to vote Political.”
It makes sense why Democrats are making such a strong case for criminals to vote. Current” incarcerated felons” have a higher than three-fold higher likelihood of being registered Democrats( 1. 7:1 ) or unaffiliated( 1 : 4 ) than Republicans, according to research from Ragnar Research published in 2019. Ex-offenders have a four-fold higher likelihood of being Democrats( 2. 7 : 1 ) or being unaffiliated( 1. 3:1 )”
Youngkin is the target of numerous criticisms for only carrying out his obligations under the Virginia Constitution because the left, of course, does not want to lose this group of Democratic voters.
