YouTube has admitted to removing nearly 10 million videos each quarter. In a blog post on Wednesday, the site’s Chief Product Officer Neal Mohan said the company took down millions of videos it deemed as “misinformation.”
Mohan added the majority of content being removed was determined to be “dangerous coronavirus information.”
“Speedy removals will always be important, but we know they’re not nearly enough,” he stated. “Instead, it’s how we also treat all the content we’re leaving up on YouTube that gives us the best path forward.”
Meanwhile, critics argue YouTube has been manipulating what shows up in viewers search results. The comments come amid controversy over social media platforms, such as Facebook and Twitter, censuring conservative voices.
