YouTube suspends LAPD for sharing video of ‘violent assault’.
YouTube Suspends LAPD Headquarters Channel Over Graphic Video
LOS ANGELES—In a shocking turn of events, YouTube has temporarily suspended the Los Angeles Police Department’s (LAPD) Headquarters channel. The suspension came after the channel posted a graphic video in an attempt to identify the suspects involved in a brutal attack in the Venice neighborhood.
The LAPD took to X, formerly Twitter, to express their frustration, stating, “The YouTube channel for LAPD HQ has been temporarily suspended after we posted a video of a brutal attack in Pacific Division asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspects. We have appealed the suspension and have been denied.”
Not only was the video removed from the platform, but the entire channel has been suspended.
According to the LAPD, the video captured a horrifying attack that took place around 2 a.m. on September 28 near the intersection of Speedway and Market Street.
In a news release, the police stated, “An argument ensued between the victim and both suspects, escalating into a violent confrontation. The first suspect swung a pair of bolt cutters at the victim, but the victim managed to deflect the blow. However, the suspect proceeded to repeatedly punch the victim, knocking him to the ground. As the victim lay defenseless, the suspect callously kicked him in the head.”
As if that wasn’t enough, a second confrontation occurred when the victim bravely stood up. The suspect armed himself once again with the bolt cutters and chased after the victim. Striking him on the back of his head, the victim lost consciousness. The heartless suspects then fled the scene on their bicycles, heading north on Speedway.
Paramedics rushed the victim to the hospital due to the severity of his head injuries, which were described as “significant.”
The suspects are both described as males wearing black pants and black and gray tennis shoes. The first suspect has black hair and a black beard, and he was seen wearing a black sweater. The second suspect, on the other hand, was wearing a gold long-sleeve dress shirt and glasses.

Why does the LAPD argue that YouTube’s decision to suspend their channel hampers their efforts in combating crime and protecting the community
