YouTube has removed several posts by Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) and in addition, suspended him from the platform for seven days. The tech giant claimed the Wisconsin Republican was spreading misinformation about COVID-19 treatments.
However, Johnson called it arrogant censorship which could result in the loss of lives. He added that lives could be saved with a free exchange of medical ideas.
In one of the videos deleted by YouTube, Johnson criticized federal bureaucrats for discouraging hydroxychloroquine as a treatment for COVID-19. This comes as a recent study showed the anti-malaria drug increases COVID-19 survival rate by 200 percent in severe cases.

“It always baffled me that there was such a concerted effort to deny the American public the type of robust exploration research into early treatment early in this pandemic,” said Johnson, commenting on why he wanted to bring focus to the topic at hand.
Meanwhile, YouTube is claiming their reason for the censorship is based on its policy against “medical misinformation.”
