Zoo shuts down suddenly due to horrifying object found in tiger’s mouth
Zoo Abruptly Closes After Gruesome Object Discovered Hanging from Tiger’s Mouth
A Pakistani zoo was forced to shut down when its employees stumbled upon a shocking sight: a shoe lodged in a resident tiger’s mouth. The incident took place at Sherbagh Zoo in Bahawalpur, Punjab province, on December 6th, according to Samaa TV.
Upon closer inspection, the staff made a horrifying discovery – the lifeless body of the shoe’s owner inside the tiger’s den. It became evident that four tigers had mauled the man to death, as reported by Samaa TV.
Authorities launched a forensic investigation to identify the victim, but his identity remained unknown. The zoo staff, however, confirmed that all employees were accounted for.
“Our assessment so far is that this appears to be a lunatic, because a sensible person would not jump into the den,” said Zaheer Anwar, Bahawalpur Deputy Commissioner, as reported by CBS News. He pointed out that the den was secured and suggested that the man may have jumped from the stairs behind it.
According to The Nation, Ali Usman Bukhari, the deputy director of the wildlife department, stated that security personnel did not hear any unusual noises from the tiger habitat the night before or on the morning of the incident.

“The autopsy report has not been released, however evidence gathered from the enclosure points towards him being alive when he was attacked by the tigers,” Bukhari revealed. “If we find a security lapse, we will address it. If need be, we will hire private security guards,” he added.
Zafarullah, a Bahawalpur rescue service official, reported that the victim’s legs were severely mauled. “It is yet not known who he is and how he got there. It is being investigated. The body looked several hours old,” Zafarullah said.
Meanwhile, the Bahawalpur Zoo, originally established in 1942 and later named “Sher Bagh” (meaning “lion garden”), is Pakistan’s fourth-largest zoo, according to its website.

The incident has raised serious concerns about the safety measures in place at the zoo. Animal rights activists have criticized the lack of security and negligence that allowed such a tragedy to occur. They argue that the zoo should have stricter protocols to ensure the safety of both visitors and animals.
The incident at Sherbagh Zoo is not an isolated event. In recent years, there have been several cases of visitors trespassing into animal enclosures, resulting in injuries or even death. These incidents highlight the need for zoos to reassess their safety procedures and take immediate action to prevent such incidents from happening in the future.
Zoos are responsible for the well-being of both their animals and visitors. It is essential to have barriers and signage in place to prevent visitors from entering prohibited areas. Additionally, regular inspections and maintenance of enclosures and security systems should be conducted to identify any potential vulnerabilities.
Furthermore, education and awareness should be prioritized to ensure that visitors understand the potential dangers of disregarding safety regulations. This can be achieved through informative signage, guided tours, and staff members who are trained to communicate the importance of following safety guidelines.
The incident at Sherbagh Zoo has resulted in the immediate closure of the facility. The authorities are now in the process of conducting a thorough investigation to determine the circumstances leading to this tragic event. They are also working to identify the man and contact his family.
In light of this devastating incident, it is crucial for zoos worldwide to reevaluate their security measures and commitment to visitor safety. Zoos should serve as spaces for education, conservation, and enjoyment, but never at the expense of human or animal lives.
This incident should serve as a wake-up call for zoos globally to prioritize safety and implement stricter protocols to mitigate the risk of accidents. It is essential for these organizations to learn from this tragedy and take proactive steps towards ensuring a safe environment for both visitors and animals.
The incident at Sherbagh Zoo is a reminder that proper safety measures are of utmost importance when dealing with potentially dangerous animals. It is the responsibility of zoo authorities to guarantee the well-being and security of all those who enter their premises. Failure to do so not only compromises the safety of individuals but also tarnishes the reputation of the entire industry.
It is hoped that the investigation into this tragic incident will shed light on any shortcomings in safety protocols at Sherbagh Zoo and serve as an example for other zoos to learn from. Only through continuous improvement and adherence to stringent safety guidelines can the trust and confidence of the public be regained.
As zoos continue to play a crucial role in conservation and education, the incidents like the one at Sherbagh Zoo must not be forgotten. They should serve as a reminder to zoos worldwide to prioritize safety and ensure that tragedies like these are never repeated. The importance of human and animal life should always be placed above any other considerations when it comes to the operation of a zoo.
