Zuckerberg’s bid to defeat Musk on Twitter is failing more each day, data reveals.

Threads: A Social Media Rival on the Decline

Threads, Meta’s ‌highly ⁢anticipated social media platform, seems to be⁤ losing its grip, according to a recent report by the Wall⁢ Street ⁢Journal.

Since ‍its grand entrance in early July, ‍the engagement levels on Threads ‌have been steadily plummeting, leaving many questioning its future.

The Journal, relying on data⁢ provided‍ by market intelligence firm Sensor Tower, revealed that the number of⁣ daily active users on Threads has dwindled to around 13 million, a staggering 70 percent drop from‌ its peak of over 40⁣ million users‍ on July 7.

Even those⁣ who do sign on to the app⁤ don’t stick around for long. Sensor Tower data indicates that users now ⁤spend a ⁣mere four minutes on Threads, a significant decline from the initial 19 minutes.

Comparatively, Twitter boasts approximately 200 million daily active users ‌who spend an average of 30 minutes on the platform.

SimilarWeb, a digital data and analytics firm, corroborated these findings, ⁤reporting that Android users on ‍Threads ‍spent 21 minutes on the app during its launch but now only dedicate five minutes to it.

Threads Needs ⁤to Step⁣ Up Its Game

Experts ⁤and‌ users‌ alike have pointed out the lack of essential features on Threads, making it difficult for⁢ the platform to compete ‍with established social media giants like Twitter.

According to Fortune, critics argue that Threads fails to ‍offer‍ a compelling reason for users to switch from Twitter or ⁤adopt it as their primary social media platform.

These ⁣concerns are reflected in the ‍declining user ⁤numbers, with people realizing ⁢that Threads falls short in terms of functionality and ⁤fails to meet their expectations.

Richard Hanna, a professor at Babson College specializing in⁣ social⁤ media strategy and digital marketing, suggests that Meta needs to enhance the capabilities of Threads to entice users and keep them engaged.

Despite the discouraging statistics, Meta⁤ CEO Mark Zuckerberg remains optimistic about the future of Threads, as reported by CNN.

In a recent⁣ post⁣ on Threads, Zuckerberg expressed his confidence ‌in the growing Threads community, ⁣highlighting the‌ significant number of⁣ daily returning users.

He emphasized that the focus for⁤ the remainder ‌of ‌the year‍ will be on improving the ‍basics and enhancing user retention.

Adam Mosseri, the head of Meta’s Instagram unit, echoed‌ Zuckerberg’s sentiments, stating that ⁣their current focus is on refining‍ performance, introducing ‍new features, and improving ⁣ranking.

While the decline in engagement may raise ⁢concerns, industry experts ⁣believe that Meta has the necessary resources and‌ expertise to overcome these challenges and propel the platform ⁣forward.

“Meta definitely has the ⁤patience,‍ they have the money, and they have the engineering talent,” said Debra Aho Williamson, principal analyst at Insider⁢ Intelligence.

As ⁣Threads faces its current setbacks, only⁢ time will tell‌ if Meta can turn the tide and regain momentum in the ‌highly competitive social media landscape.
